WSU 2026-2027 Application Closing Dates:

The online application window for the study year 2026 will be closing by the below dates:

• International Applicants: 30 September 2025
• South African Applicants: 31 October 2025
• Postgraduate Applications: Applications for Master’s and PhD programs remain open until February 2026.

Important Note:

• Applicants to the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, who are currently writing their Matric in 2025, should wait for their Grade 12 June (Term 2) exam results before applying.
• These results are required for pre-selection into all programs offered by the faculty.

WSU Application Requirements 2026-2027

Given below are the requirements needed to apply for admission into WSU for the study year 2026:

For Higher Certificate Courses:

• A National Senior Certificate (NSC) is required.
• Applicants must have at least 30% in the institution’s language of learning and teaching, certified by Umalusi.

Additional Requirements:

• Some programs may require specific subject combinations.
• Recognized NSC subjects with certain achievement levels may also be necessary.

For Diploma Courses:

• A National Senior Certificate (NSC) is required.
• Applicants must meet the following:
• A minimum of 30% in the language of learning and teaching at the institution.
• An achievement rating of 3 (40-49%) or higher in at least four recognized 20-credit subjects (excluding Life Orientation).
• Certification by Umalusi.

Additional Requirements:

• Specific subject combinations may be required by some programs.
• Higher achievement levels in recognized NSC subjects may also be necessary.

For Bachelor’s Degree Courses:

• A National Senior Certificate (NSC) is required.
• Applicants must meet the following:
• A minimum of 30% in the language of learning and teaching at the institution.
• An achievement rating of 4 (50-59%) or higher in at least four recognized 20-credit subjects (excluding Life Orientation).
• Certification by Umalusi.

Additional Requirements:

• Higher levels of achievement in recognized NSC subjects may also be required.
