In addition, you also have to meet the minimum APS scores using the method that applies to the qualification you are applying for. The APS is calculated by taking the percentage scores of your six highest-scoring subjects, including required ones like Mathematics, Physical Science, and English, but excluding Life Orientation. The raw scores of these subjects are added together, and then the total is divided by 10 to give your final APS score.

The APS is also calculated using doubling the percentage score for Mathematics and Accounting, and then adding the 4 next best subjects (excluding Life Orientation), then dividing by 10. The department utilises an Admission Point Score (APS) as a selection point once your minimum admission requirements are satisfied. How To Calculate The APS  Score 

The Admission Point Score (APS) is calculated differently based on the program you choose at Cape Peninsula University of Technology.  In most cases, the APS depends on the final school subject marks, but Life Orientation is not included. CPUT calculates your APS by doubling your Mathematics or Accounting mark. They then add the marks from your next four best subjects (excluding Life Orientation).

This total is divided by 10 to give you your APS. Remember, Life Orientation does not count in any part of the calculation. Even if you meet the basic entry requirements, you need at least 36 APS points with Mathematics or 38 if you took Mathematical Literacy.
