Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU) is an esteemed institution located in Ga-Rankuwa, South Africa, prominently dedicated to health sciences education. Established on January 1, 2015, it evolved from the Medical University of South Africa (MEDUNSA) and later served as a campus of the University of Limpopo. ​SMU plays an essential role in providing medical education specifically to historically marginalized groups, addressing historic inequities in access to healthcare education in South Africa.​

With a diverse student body of approximately 12,000, the university is committed to producing highly skilled healthcare professionals in fields such as medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and physiotherapy. The institution is strategically positioned next to Dr. George Mukhari Academic Hospital, providing students with practical experience in a clinical environment. Post Graduate Diploma in Hospital Pharmacy Management (PG Dip HPM)

***Purpose Of Qualification
The qualification’s primary purpose is to provide qualifying learners with comprehensive management skills to manage a hospital pharmacy effectively.

***Admission Requirements
The following are the minimum requirements for entry to the programme

  • A Bachelor’s or Honour’s degree in Pharmacy (NQF level 8) or equivalent from a recognised university
  • Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council as a pharmacist post-community service
  • At least three years experience of working as a pharmacist in a hospital pharmacy setting
