How To Apply For On-Campus Accommodation at Nelson Mandela University (NMU)

  • Applicants need to be welcomed by the faculty before they can be qualified for consideration for on-campus residence
  • The deadline date for the University(Nelson Mandela University) is the end of September each year
  • Your application for on-campus residence will be recognized, but this does not mean you’ve gained space at the residence
  • All freshmen are required to share the same space
  • Applicants are chosen within the same faculty to promote shared academic interest and foster opportunities for peer learning
  • Nelson Mandela University does not take responsibility for students’ assets. Students are advised to secure insurance to protect against any risks
  • Applicants with high AS(Applicant Score) will be given precedence. If multiple applicants have the same Applicant Score, preference will be based on attendance at Quintile 1, 2, and 3(no-fee) schools
  • Precedence will be given to applicants residing outside the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality(NMBM) for Port Elizabeth campuses and outside the George Municipality for George Campus
  • Applicants who are received due to full on-campus residences will be placed in our accredited off-campus residences

Fees Per Residence at NMU

Residence fees are charged per semester upon registration and apply to the entire academic period. These fees cover only the academic semesters and do not include the winter and summer recess periods. Residence fees do not cover the cost of meals.

Enrollment eligibility depends on the full payment of residence fees from the previous semester. Late occupancy credits will only be taken into account upon confirmation from the Student Housing Management, provided the room was not reserved for the student and all required deposits have been paid.
