If this is your first time applying, don’t worry we will provide all the information you need to make the process stress-free. We encourage you to apply early, as spaces fill up quickly.

The Procedure When Applying For On-Campus Residence

Candidates must first be accepted by the faculty before they can be considered for on-campus residences
The deadline for applying to the university is the end of September each year
Receipt of your application for on-campus residence will be acknowledged but this does not guarantee a space in the residence
All freshmen are expected to share rooms
Candidates are grouped and chosen within the same faculty so that common academic interests are shared and opportunities to learn from each other are created
Nelson Mandela University accepts no responsibility for a student’s personal property. Please ensure that you are insured against such eventualities
Priority will be given to candidates with a high Applicant Score(AS).
Candidates who are not accepted due to on-campus residences being full will be placed in our accredited off-campus residence

For New Students

Academic Admission

Begin by putting in an application for academic admission through the Nelson Mandela University Central Admission Office. Acceptance into the faculty is a prerequisite for residence consideration

Residence Application

During your academic application, indicate your interest in on-campus accommodation. The university will acknowledge receipt of your residence application, however, it doesn’t guarantee placement

Apply for residence placement via the student portal. Make sure you meet the necessary academic and financial requirements before submitting your application
