CPUT Online Residence Application 2026

The CPUT Residence is the accommodation provided by the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) for students during their studies. These residences are located across various campuses, offering students a place to live while pursuing their education.

The Cape Peninsula University of Technology offers more than 25 residences, though not all are located on the Main Campus, and they vary in the facilities they provide. Student Life and Residential Services will be implementing online residence applications for both current residents and first-time applicants. All students can apply for residence accommodation. To apply for residence, students must use the CPUT Online Residence Application system. The application process differs for first-time applicants, continuing students, and special categories, such as international or RPL students.

For first-time applicants, residence applications will only be processed once the online academic application is completed. Current CPUT students can log in to their SOS unable to apply for residence accommodation. Please note, that due to limited space, applying for residence does not guarantee placement, even if you are academically accepted into a program. CPUT Online Residence Application Categories/ Process 2026

Accommodation is offered to various types of students, including first-time applicants, returning students, and senior students. However, due to limited availability, applying does not guarantee placement in residence. With different application procedures for first-time applicants, continuing students, and special categories like international or RPL students. Follow the steps below to apply;

First-Year Students (New to CPUT)

Undergraduate & Postgraduate: After completing the academic application, you’ll receive your Student Online Services (SOS) login details (Student Number + PIN).
For Existing CPUT Applicants: Use the SOS iEnabler to look up your PIN if you already have a student number.
Process: Log in to SOS and follow the instructions to apply for residence.

RPL and International Applicants

Manual Application: RPL and international students must complete a manual application form (available on the CPUT website or at the Admissions Centre). This includes both academic and accommodation applications.
Process: Submit the completed form to the Housing Unit for residence accommodation. Do not apply online.

Senior CPUT Students (First-Time Residence Applicants)

Eligibility: Senior students who are progressing into the next academic year but have not previously stayed in CPUT residences.

Requirements:

60% pass rate in subjects
Live more than 60 km from the campus
Availability of space
Process: Apply via SOS for residence accommodation (no manual applications).

Returning CPUT Students

Eligibility: Students who lived in CPUT residences in the previous year.

Requirements:

Pass at least 60% of courses
Applied for residence last year
No serious disciplinary issues
Process: Apply via SOS for residence accommodation (no manual applications).

Students on Experiential Learning

Short-Term (Under 6 Months): Apply as a returning student through SOS.
Long-Term (6 Months or More): Apply manually through the Central Housing Office for accommodation in the following academic year.
