Apply At CPUT 2026-2027

The CPUT online application portal will be open from May to September 2025 for students applying for the 2026-2027 academic year. This applies to both undergraduate and postgraduate applicants, including high school graduates from South Africa and around the world. To apply, students need to complete the application form, upload the required documents, pay the application fee, and submit the application between May and September 2025.

For some programs, the application deadline is extended until 13 January 2026. Some programs will only accept applications from returning CPUT students between 7 and 10 January 2026. Applications for Full Research Master’s and Doctoral Degrees will be accepted until 14 March 2026. Make sure to check the admission requirements as acceptance depends on both eligibility and available space.

CPUT 2026-2027 Application Date

The application portal will open from May- September 2025. However, The online application portal for CPUT opens the following dates for applications;

  • A limited number of programmes have had their application deadlines extended to 13 January 2026.
  • Certain programmes are open exclusively to returning CPUT students from 7 January 2026 to 10 January 2026.
  • The application deadline for Full Research Master’s and Doctoral Degrees in Postgraduate Studies remains open until 14 March 2026.

Application Fee to Apply at CPUT 2026-2027

The following amount is required to complete your 2026-2027 application;

  • Online Applications: No application fee is required.
  • Manual Applications: A non-refundable fee of R100 is required.
  • Late Applications: A fee of R150 applies for late manual applications.

Admission Requirements To Apply At CPUT 2026-2027

Applicants must meet the academic qualifications specific to their chosen program. General requirements include:

Academic Qualifications

  • A Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • For applicants following the Cambridge system:
  • A minimum of five subjects passed at IGCSE and HIGCSE levels, with at least two subjects at HIGCSE.
  • A pass in the university’s language of instruction (English or Afrikaans).

Required grades:

  • IGCSE: A, B, or C.
  • HIGCSE: 1, 2, or 3.

Other senior school qualifications will be assessed on merit.

International Applicants

  • Undergraduate Applications: Must meet the Matriculation Exemption requirements to enrol in South African university degree programs.
  • Advanced Diploma and Postgraduate Applications: A SAQA certificate is required for all first-year undergraduate programs, including Higher Certificates and Diplomas.

Required Documents To Apply At CPUT 2026-2027

The following documents are required to apply online at CPUT for the 2026-2027 academic year;

For South African Applicants:

  • A certified copy of the first page of your Identity Document or Birth Certificate.
  • A certified copy of your Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification. If you are currently in Grade 12, submit your Grade 11 marks.
  • Certified copies of your original Academic Record and Certificate of Conduct, or certified copies of other certificates, diplomas, or degrees obtained from any previous higher education institution.

For International Applicants:

  • Permanent Residency Applicants: Submit a certified copy of your passport and proof of Permanent Residency or South African ID.
  • Refugee/Asylum Seekers: Submit a certified copy of your temporary permit or formal recognition of refugee status in South Africa.
  • Passport: A certified copy of your passport.
  • School-Leaving Certificate: If your certificate is not in English, please provide an English translation.

Specific Requirements for Certain Countries:

  • Congo-Brazzaville Applicants: Submit Liste des Admis au Bac along with an English translation.
  • Democratic Republic of Congo Applicants: Provide your Sixth-year Bulletin, Diplom D’Etat, journal, transcripts, or embassy confirmation of results.
  • Angolan Applicants: Submit Portuguese results with an English translation.
  • Applicants from Gabon, Cameroon, Bangladesh, and Burundi: Provide French results with an English translation.

English Translations: These must be stamped by a sworn translator.

For International Nursing Applicants:

  • Approval of nursing qualifications from SAQA.
  • Proof of temporary registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) for two years.
  • Valid study permit.

How To Apply At CPUT 2026-2027

The CPUT application process is completed online through the university’s official website during the designated application period, as manual applications are not accepted. Follow the steps below to apply online for the 2026-2027 academic year:

Gather all required documents, including any outstanding ones. Applicants under 18 must submit a Minor Application Declaration form.

Upload certified copies of the required supporting documents
