Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) is now accepting applications for undergraduate and postgraduate programs for the 2026-2027 academic year. Applications are open to high school graduates, returning students from South Africa, and international applicants. Undergraduate Applications
The application window for most undergraduate programs for 2026 has closed, with the following exceptions:
- A limited number of programs have had their application deadline extended to 13 January 2026.
- Certain programs are available exclusively to returning CPUT students. Applications for these programs will be open from 07 January 2026 to 10 January 2026.
For postgraduate studies:
- Applications for Master’s Degrees (Full Research) and Doctoral Degrees remain open until 14 March 2026.
- This extended deadline applies to these research-focused programs, regardless of the conditions outlined for late applications for undergraduate programs.

Online Application Fee for CPUT 2026-2027
The Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) charges a fee of R100 for paper-based applications. However, applications submitted online are completely free.
Admission Requirements For CPUT Application 2026-2027
Prospective students must meet specific academic qualifications to be eligible for admission. These typically include a Senior Certificate or an equivalent qualification. For students following the Cambridge system, the requirements are as follows:
- Subject Requirements: A minimum of five subjects passed at the IGCSE and HIGCSE levels, with at least two subjects at the HIGCSE level.

- Advanced Diploma and Postgraduate Programmes: A SAQA (South African Qualifications Authority) certificate is required for all first-year undergraduate programmes, including Higher Certificates and Diplomas.
Required Documents for Online Application to CPUT 2026–2027
To apply online for the 2026 academic year at CPUT, please ensure you submit the following documents:
- For South African Applicants
- Identity Document: A certified copy of the first page of your ID or Birth Certificate.
- School Qualification: A certified copy of your Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification. If you are currently in Grade 12, submit your Grade 11 results.

Permanent Residency Applicants:
- A certified copy of your passport.
- Proof of Permanent Residency or South African ID.
- Refugees/Asylum Seekers: A certified copy of your temporary permit or formal recognition of refugee status in South Africa.
- Passport: A certified copy of your passport.
- School-Leaving Certificate: If your certificate is not in English, include a certified English translation.
Country-Specific Requirements
- Congo-Brazzaville Applicants: Submit your Liste des Admis au Bac along with a certified English translation.
- Democratic Republic of Congo Applicants: Provide your Sixth-Year Bulletin, Diplom D’Etat, journal, transcripts, or embassy confirmation of results.
- Angolan Applicants: Submit Portuguese results accompanied by a certified English translation.
- Applicants from Gabon, Cameroon, Bangladesh, and Burundi: Provide French results with a certified English translation.
Note: All English translations must be stamped by a sworn translator.
For International Nursing Applicants
- Approval of nursing qualifications from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
- Proof of temporary registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) valid for two years.
- A valid study permit.
