The University of Venda nursing science department offers comprehensive nursing programs designed to help learners with the skills and values necessary to provide high-quality patient care. The number of nursing students and programs offered by the Department of Advanced Nursing Science have increased significantly. Over 370 undergraduate and 45 graduate nursing students are taught by the department, which employs 18 full-time staff members.
The department offers three-year nursing diploma programs, four-year first-entry bachelor’s degrees in nursing and midwifery, three-year honors-level graduate programs (HONAD, HOHED, and HONCN), a master’s degree in nursing with a full dissertation, and a general doctor of philosophy in nursing. University Of Venda Department of Public Health
The Faculty of Health Sciences includes the Department of Public Health, which was founded in 1998. Programs offered by the department include: Doctor of Philosophy in Public Health, Master of Public Health, and Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health. Professionals enrolled in these programs will be equipped to assume leadership positions in disease prevention, control, and health promotion on a local, regional, and international level.

University Of Venda Nursing Requirements for 2026
Masters of Public Health (SHMMPH)- Admission Requirements:
- A minimum of an Honours degree, a 4-year professional degree, or a postgraduate diploma in a health-related discipline assessed at NQF level 8 is required of candidates.
- In the last year of the relevant degree, students must also complete all of the courses and modules with a cumulative minimum percentage score of 65% or higher.
- After their credentials have been assessed by the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA), applicants with international qualifications must achieve the National Qualification Framework (NQF) exit level 8 to be considered for admission.
- This master’s degree is subject to all university policies and procedures.
Doctor of Philosophy in Public Health (SHPPPH)-Admission Requirements:
- Students with foreign qualifications must first ensure that their criteria are evaluated by the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA).
- All institution rules and regulations apply to this Doctoral degree.
- Learners are expected to submit and present a concept paper based on their research interests.
- Candidates must possess a Master of Public Health degree with an average of 65% and above.
Post Graduate Diploma in Public Health (SHBDPH-Admission Requirements:
- Candidates with foreign qualifications must obtain the National Qualification Framework (NQF) exit level 7 after their certificates are evaluated by the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA).
- All institution rules and regulations apply to this Post Graduate Diploma.
- Any Health-Related NQF level 7 qualification with an overall average percentage of 60% in the final year.
